Indigenous Teaching and Learning 

Are you interested in Indigenous enabling programs or helping students from Indigenous backgrounds within mainstream enabling programs?

This special interest group will focus on Indigenous pedagogical approaches to teaching in enabling programs and culturally appropriate ways to assist Indigenous students navigate enabling programs. The purpose of this group is to provide a space for sharing resources and methods to improve the education of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander enabling students, across a range of contexts.

  • Daniel Collins

    Dan Collins is a Worimi/Biripi man from the Lower North Coast of NSW. He has been the Yapug Program Convenor at the University of Newcastle, following on from twenty years as a high school teacher. He is interested in the complex aspects of Aboriginal language learning. Dan is the President of the Muloobinbah Local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG).

  • Erin O'Donoghue

    As an Educational Consultant & Teaching Coach, Erin has worked with educators across Australia and New Zealand for over five years, helping them implement and modify their teachings to be delivered in Aboriginal ways. She is passionate about creating inclusive learning environments that cater to the needs of all students, particularly those from diverse backgrounds. Erin utilises approaches that incorporate social justice initiatives and innovative learning design, drawing on her expertise in Indigenous Research and Development.
