Indigenous Students 

Are you interested in Indigenous enabling programs or helping students from Indigenous backgrounds within mainstream enabling programs?

This special interest group will focus on Indigenous pedagogical approaches to teaching in enabling programs and culturally appropriate ways to assist Indigenous students navigate enabling programs. The purpose of this group is to provide a space for sharing resources and methods to improve the education of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander enabling students, across a range of contexts.

  • Daniel Collins

    Dan Collins is a Worimi/Biripi man from the Lower North Coast of NSW. He has been the Yapug Program Convenor at the University of Newcastle, following on from twenty years as a high school teacher. He is interested in the complex aspects of Aboriginal language learning. Dan is the President of the Muloobinbah Local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG).

  • Erin O'Donoghue

    Erin O’Donoghue is a Kamilaroi/Mandandanji woman originally from South-West Queensland. She worked as a high school teacher for nearly a decade until 2023 when she started lecturing at the University of Southern Queensland. She currently works within the UniSQ College as an Associate Lecturer in tertiary pathways, her predominate students are those that are currently incarcerated and/or from refugee backgrounds. Erin’s passions lie within helping all educators create and engage through Indigenous culture to create inclusive and collaborative learning environments.
